Polish actress Zofia Merle died in Warsaw on December 13,
2023. She was 85. Born in Warsaw on March 30, 1938, Zofia was a popular and
multi-talented actress who gained popularity for her excellent comedic roles.
Zofia Merle's career began in 1957. It was then, on March 2, that the artist
performed on stage for the first time. Zofia Merle played on the comedy stage
for over 20 years, until 1985 when she joined the ensemble of the
"Dramatic" theatre, with which she remained associated for the next 5
years. She was a master of supporting roles. Always, even when she played
episodic roles, her performances are expressive and often more memorable than
the roles of leading artists. Merle appeared in only one Euro-western as Kitty
in the 1968 television film “Komedia z pomylek.”
