Gojko MiticThe TAG History Workshop in Lusan offers a special show about movies and idol Gojko Mitic.

The TAG History Workshop at Kastanienstraße 7 in Lusan is hosting a special exhibition on the subject of "Indian Films in the GDR" until April next year.

The Defa Indian films were crowd-pullers and attracted millions of visitors to the cinemas in all countries. On February 17, 1966, the first Indian film "The Sons of the Great Bear" premiered in the cinemas of the district towns of the GDR, including the Panorama Palace in Gera. Eleven more films of this kind followed. Seven of the twelve Defa Indian films are among the 50 most successful GDR feature films.

To this day, the films still enjoy great popularity. Gojko Mitic was the "chief Indian" of the Defa, after he played a new leading role year after year and became the idol of millions of children, young people and adults. Gojko Mitic personally travelled to the opening of the exhibition and the 15th anniversary of the TAG History Workshop and congratulated the director Irina Schulheiss on the successful show and on the birthday of the cultural institution.

Until April 5, 2024, film posters of all films and set designs will be shown in the History Workshop with explanations and astonishing findings such as production costs, visitor numbers in the cinemas and much more. You can also see everyday objects, Native American figures, clothing from the films and much more.
