Ulrich Bruckner of KOCH DVD fame has created the European Western bible. “Fur ein paar Leihcen mehr” is everything we wished the Thomas Weisser book would have been. Bruckner covers the films, the crews, the composers and the actors. He delves into the reasons why the genre was so different then the American standard. He interviews major participants in the genre, lists the films and the participants, covers the soundtrack releases and gives us an overall look at the genre like no other author. The only problem is it’s available only in a German language edition. This doesn’t cause a major problem for those who are looking for basic information on a film but it sure causes problems when trying to read the articles and interviews. Still this is one of, if not the best book on the genre available and is a must for all collectors and students of the genre. The original 2002 hardcover edition is out of print but Ulrich has done a revised expanded paperback edition which was released in 2006 and is still available. Filled with many photos and created by a true fan of the genre.
