Evelyn Lazar died in Berlin, Germany on March 3, 2025, at
the age of 91. Born in Germany on March 10, 1933, she completed a journalistic
training after graduating from school. Lazar was the first woman to host the
nightly news on Berliner Abendschau (now Rbb24 Abendschau) for about two
decades from 1971 to 1991. She was also the first woman to present a news
magazine on cultural topics. In addition, Lazar was also active as a
screenwriter for films and television series which developed concepts for
television shows and was occasionally active as an actress in front of the
camera and as a dubbing actress. Lazar appeared as Cora Munro on the 1956 Euro-western
DDR TV film “The Last of the Mohicans” in 1956.
