A well-attended event in Colmenar Viejo, Tierra de Cine and the Archaeology Team A, has recalled the sixty years of the filming of For a Few Dollars More”, in May 1965, and other round anniversaries of films shot in the town.
Chaired by the actor Saturnino García, who is also president of the associated group dedicated to the dissemination of the relationship of the film industry with Colmenar Viejo, the films that have birthdays have been honored, among an audience that included representatives of the Sad Hill de Burgos and Hoyo Cine de Hoyo de Manzanares associations.

Recalling shootings such as “Alexander the Great”, which this 2025 celebrates seventy years of filming in the Dehesa de Navalvillar, and films such as “El ciento trece”, released in 1935, “Nobleza baturra”, released in 1965, or “The Golden Voyage of Sinbad”, released in Spain in 1975, a special memory was made of the recently deceased Gene Hackman, and his filming of “The Hunting Party” in the town. And regarding “For a Few Dollars More”, it was recalled that Clint Eastwood filmed with Leone on the western set of Lega-Michelena in the Dehesa de Navalvillar, the sequences of White Rocks, and that they also filmed together, already with Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef, the scenes of the besieged city of Peralta for “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. And that it was not the first time that Leone filmed in the town, since he previously did it in the Plaza de Toros de Colmenar Viejo, together with Sergio Corbucci and Duccio Tessari, in his uncredited directorial debut, “The Last Days of Pompeii”.
And among original posters and posters, such as those of “Joaquín Murrieta” or “Fuera de la ley”, a film that inaugurated the stable set of the western town of Michelena in the Dehesa de Navalvillar, the virtues of the films shot in Colmenar Viejo were revealed.
Already in the question-and-answer session, the recent publication of the book Oro vil. Spanish pioneer western was recalled, in which Colmenar Viejo, Tierra de Cine collaborated, as well as from the audience, the need to recover disappeared sets was stressed.
The initiative of the City Council of Colmenar Viejo to acquire the old San Lorenzo Cinema was also congratulated, as well as the desire for the building to be dedicated to film projection and to house a cinema museum on the relationship of Colmenar Viejo with cinema.
Likewise, it was announced by Colmenar Viejo, Tierra de Cine, of a day of guided tours and interpretation, in the space of the location of the city of White Rocks of “For a Few Dollars More”, for the month of May, in the Dehesa de Navalvillar.
Finally, as a gift, all attendees were given a bookmark as a souvenir of the event, which reproduces an entrance to the old Prados de Colmenar Viejo Cinema, known as "the old cinema".
