The documentary 'Sad Hill Unearthed', shot in 2017 by Guillermo de Oliveira and nominated for the Goya for Best Documentary Film, arrives this Friday 23, at 7:30 p.m., at the elcírculo auditorium, as part of the film cycle programmed this quarter by Círculo Creativo, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

The film narrates the effort of the group of volunteers who decided to carry out an almost archaeological work to recover one of the most emblematic scenarios of the film 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly', by Sergio Leone. The feature film, one of the most celebrated 'spaghetti westerns', was shot in several locations in the Arlanza Valley, in the province of Burgos and will be presented by members of the Sad Hill Cultural Association.

'Unearthing Sad Hill' contains interviews with some of the people involved in the filming, from musician Ennio Morricone or actor Clint Eastwood to extras from the area, and with admirers of Leone's films, such as filmmakers Álex de la Iglesia and Joe Dante or Metallica singer James Hetfield. The documentary, which follows the reconstruction of the Sad Hill cemetery, is a declaration of love for cinema and cinephiles. In addition to his Goya nomination, he won awards such as the Medal of the Circle of Film Writers or the triumph in the Noves Visions section of the Sitges Film Festival.

The film series will be completed on Wednesday, February 28, with the screening of Lino Varela's film 'While the Lathe Plate Turns', a work in which he delves into the workshop of the ceramists Raquel Condado and José Luis Ramos. The director from Burgos will participate in the subsequent colloquium.
