Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Flavio Bennati

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Flavio Bennati was born in Milan, Lombardy, Italy on April 16, 1935. He graduated from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 1957.

In 1959 he left La Scala for the American Festival Ballet where he made his debut as a principal dancer alongside Sonia Arova. From 1960 to 1963 he was a soloist in the Ballet du XX Siècle directed by Maurice Bejart. With this company he made his debut as a choreographer in opera ballets directed by Franco Zeffirelli. He had creations as a principal dancer in Bejart's ballets.

In 1964 he was in New York, as principal dancer in a major Broadway musical representing France at the New York World's Fair.

In 1964 he was chosen by John Huston for the role of the "Serpent" in the Bible, a role that had previously been given to Rudolf Nureyev.

He has been a principal dancer in the major Italian opera houses.

He has choreographed more than 40 opera ballets in theatres such as well as Italian, Belgian and Dutch television. In 1970 he choreographed La Traviata at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.

For years she has been teaching Classical Dance courses at various levels at the IALS Center in Rome.

During his career he has appeared in three films including his only Spaghetti western “Little Rita nel West” (Little Rita of the West) where he was a dancer.
