Valeria
Ciangottin was born in Rome, Italy on August 6, 1945. Her parents were from
Umbria, originating from Città di Castello (her mother) and Umbertide (her
father). Hence her great love for the countryside and for the animals that led
her to return to live in the area adjacent to the two municipalities.
At fourteen years
old Ciangottini was chosen by Federico Fellini, after he noticed her leaving
school, for the role of Paola in “La Dolce Vita”. She then worked as a
photographic model posing in 1963 for the cover and for the relative black and
white book of Donatella Moretti's debut long playing, Diario di una sedicenne while attending the actor’ studio.
From there she
started a successful acting career, being usually cast in the stereotypical
role of a young, pure and tender girl. She was also active on television, in
which she played main roles in several TV-movies and series, she also hosted several
programs for children. Over the years Ciangottini essentially focused her
career on theater, in particular on comedy plays she’s appeared on stage in
Carlo Simoni’ “Tredici a tavola (per la regia di Luigi Bonori)”, “Il
pensionante”, by Raffaella Battaglini (directed by Walter Manfrè), and Gianrico
Tedeschi’s “La rigenerazione,” by Italo Svevo. She has been running the
"October" Theater and Association School for years. She was married to
journalist Fabrizio Ricci until his death in 2016.
Her only
Euro-western appearance was as Jane in 1966’ “For a Few Dollars Less” starring
the comedy team Franco and Ciccio.
