Llanos de Duque is a wide plain, of yellow-orange color,
to the right of the road C-326 that from Almeria leads to Gergal (about six
kilometers from the junction for Tabernas), with the Sierra Alhamilla in the
background. The opening scene (with the opening credits) of "For a Few
Dollars More" (1965) was shot there; a solitary rider, who, in the large
field, advances slowly and is shot down by a rifle. This landscape is still
intact today. In "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (1966) this vast
open space represents the desert place where Biondo (Clint Eastwood), after
having decided to dissolve the "society", abandons Tuco (Eli Wallach)
on foot leaving his hands tied. It then appears in "The Last Tomahawk"
(1965); "Ace High" (1968); "The Night of the Serpent"
(1969) and in the finale of "Four of the Apocalypse" and in
"Comin 'At Ya" (1981).
