Maria
Mizar Ferrara was born on August 16, 1899 in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. After
a long apprenticeship in the theater that gave her a wealth of training, she
began appearing in a few films in the late 1960s; one of the first works in
which she took part was “Don Giovanni in Sicilia” (1967), directed by Alberto
Lattuada .
Maria
appeared in three Euro-westerns: “The Great Silence” (1967), “A Taste of
Vengeance” (1968) and “Three Silver Dollars” (1968).
Later
she played numerous supporting roles in such films as “Il medico della mutual”
(1968), by Luigi Zampa, “Gli intoccabili” (1968), by Giuliano Montaldo and “Un
sacco bello” (1980), by Carlo Verdone. This is also the last appearance
currently known of her on the big screen by Mizar.
Mizar
died on September 14, 1997 in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
Today
we remember Maria Mizar on what would have been her 115th birthday.
