Robert Francis Vaughn was born on November 22, 1932 in
New York City. He is an Academy Award-nominated American actor noted for stage,
film and television work. His best-known U.S. television series roles include
the suave spy Napoleon Solo in the 1960s ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ and wealthy
detective Harry Rule in the 1970s in ‘The Protectors’. Robert came to the
public's attention first with his Oscar-nominated role in “The Young
Philadelphians” (1959). The next year, he was one of the seven in the western
classic “The Magnificent Seven” (1960).
As grifter and card sharp Albert Stroller in the BBC TV
series ‘Hustle’ (2004-2012). Between January and February 2012, Vaughn played
Milton Fanshaw in the long-running British soap opera ‘Coronation Street’, a
new love interest for the character Sylvia Goodwin. He’s continued to mix his
types of projects, even appearing on stage on numerous occasions. Vaughn
appeared in one Euro-western “They Call Me Renegade” (1987) with Terence Hill.
