Raoul Delfosse was born in Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes, Nord, France on May 12, 1924. Delfosse was a French character actor who voiced Rygel in the French dub of “Farscape”. He appeared in 95 films and TV appearances between 1956 and 2007.
Delfosse began acting in films in the 1950s, often as military officers, policemen, or sailors. His credits include a range of French, British, and internationally co-produced titles, including “The Trial” (as a policeman with Anthony Perkins), “Charade” (with James Coburn), “The French Connection II” (as a ship captain), “Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo” (as a police captain with Don Knotts), and “Hour of the Pig” (as Blind George, with Ian Holm, Vincent Grass, and Elizabeth Spriggs).
On TV, Delfosse guest starred on ‘The New Avengers’ (with Joanna Lumley) and appeared in two installments of the French ‘Maigret’ series as the director of the police judiciary. His dubbng credits included Steven Hill on ‘Law & Order’, Ian Abercrombie as Mr. Pitt on ‘Seinfeld’, Albert Hague on ‘Fame’, King Koopa on ‘Super Mario Bros.’, and Grandpa on the animated series ‘Teen Wolf’.
Delfosse died at the age of 85 in Belloy-en-France, Val-d'Oise, France on November 27, 2009.
Raoul’s only Spaghetti western was as Le Cornas in 1971’s “Les pétroleuses” (The Legend of Frenchie King) starring Brigit Bardot and Claudia Cardinale. He was also the French voice of Laurence Naismith in 1969’s “The Valley of Gwangi”
