We begin a new search for locations for 1958’s “I Want
Him Dead” which was directed by Paolo Bianchi and starred Craig Hill and Lea
Massari. The film opens towards the end of the Civil War with a man named
Clayton and his sister Mercedes riding through the desert. They stop and make
camp and Clayton, while drinking a cup of coffee hears a horse and then sees a
riderless white horse running towards the camp then sees the reflection of a
man coming up behind him on the cliff above with a gun about to shoot him in
the back. Suddenly a man appears on the horse with a gun about to shoot Clayton,
but he’s already drawn his gun and shoots the rider then spins and shoots the
man behind him and a third man on the hillside beside him. Mercedes runs to his
side and the opening credits begin.
The opening scene was filmed in Valle del Búho, Tabernas, Almería, Spain.
