The Tabernas Film Festival will also distinguish Italian researcher Carlo Gaberscek with the Western Gender Diffusion Award.

AWFF, the only European festival dedicated to Western cinema, will pay tribute in its 15th edition to two essential figures of the genre:

🏆 'Leone in Memoriam' Award: Gian Maria Volonté (1933–1994), unforgettable actor of classics like 'Death Had a Price' (Sergio Leone, 1965), filmed in Tabernas.

📚 Western Gender Diffusion Prize: Carlo Gaberscek, researcher and author of 'Il victo west' (2007), key work on the filming of western Europe in Almeria.

The award ceremony will be on October 10, 2025, in the legendary western town MiniHollywood Oasys, during a special act that will culminate with the symbolic ceremony of the burial at sunset and the live performance of the Catalan quintet 'Victor Colomer's Dollar Trilogy', which will perform several themes from Morricone on key of contemporary jazz.

The day will be complemented by a roundtable titled '60 years of MiniHollywood and For a Few Dollars More', organized in the framework of the anniversary of the film set designed and built by Carlo Simi for Sergio Leone's film. In this colloquium, Carlo Gaberscek himself, researcher José Enrique Martinez Moya, Giuditta Simi (daughter of Carlo Simi), José Maria Rodriguez (manager of MiniHollywood Oasys), and will be moderated by the German journalist Diego Martinez.

In addition, within the Panorama Section will be screened the documentary feature film

“Leone's Almeria”, a work of cinematic archeology that explores the locations where the Italian filmmaker shot and will have the presence of its director and screenwriter, the Portuguese Paulo César Fajardo.
