Who Are Those Singers & Musicians? Francisco Heredero

Francisco Heredero Camps was born in the Santis district of Barcelon, Spain on March 12, 1942. After discovering the music of Elvis Presley which was definitive for him to go from listening to songs to singing them. In 1960 he entered himself in the television musical contest "Primer Éxito", he also participated in the Radio Nacional contest "The Best Rocker of 1962", being the winner, the announcer Mario Beut promoted his first recordings. His first album was signed as Francesc Heredero and sung in Catalan: "Amic Elvis" in 1963, with four songs popularized by Elvis. Then the first album in Spanish arrived and the second confirmed the true start of his career. "Dame Felicidad / Renata / Como tú no hay nada / Yipee Yeh Tamouré" again in 1963. This album was a huge success on a national scale and cemented his image as a real modern singer, without stridency and capable of singing versions of foreign songs.

In 1965 he won the Aranda de Duero Festival with "Mariola" and was about to be the Spanish representative in Eurovision with his own song "Junto a ti", but that year he also published albums of versions such as "Chao Chao" and the single "Capri se acabó / Aquel capilla", the Spanish cover of "Crying in the Chapel" will ultimately be his most remembered song. 1965 was his golden year and he records again in Catalan the EP "Soc d'algú / No hi ha domani / Dona'm la ma / Nina de cera".

In 1967 he married singer Luisita Tenor and they formed a duet and places their albums on the sales and popularity charts. This makes him practically give up his solo recording career. In total, more than twenty solo albums, plus the six he recorded with his wife. In 1969 he continued to sing less frequently, publishing "Arena dorada". The family duo would still make some more recordings and Francisco Heredero will remain on stage until 1972. At the same time, he began his career as an entrepreneur that would take him years later to work in real estate. After abandoning their artistic career in the early 1970s, the couple lived in Calafell (Bajo Panadés, Tarragona).
