Who Are Those Guys? ~ Alfonso de la Vega

 

Alfonso de la Vega is another unsung actor of the Spaghetti westerns. Born sometime in the 1930s in Spain he began his acting career in the 1955 film “El tren expreso” directed by

León Klimovsky and starring Jorge Mistral and Laura Hidalgo. He would go on to appear in over 50 more films before his final appearance in 1985’s “The Sea Serpent” under the alias Alphonse McCoy. The film was directed by Amando de Ossorio and starred Timothy Bottoms and Ray Milland.

In between de la Vega appeared in 29 Spaghetti westerns usually playing thugs, henchmen but sometimes appearing as deputy, rancher or military personnel. The beefy actor was easily recognizable and was always very believable in whatever roles he was given.

Once again there is no biographical information on one of the Spanish character actors that added so much to the genre.
