As we know most of the Euro-westerns were co-productions from Italy, Spain, Germany and France which incorporated British and American actors to gain a worldwide audience. The films were shot silent and then dubbed into the various languages where they were sold for distribution. That means Italian, Spanish, German, French and English voice actors were hired to dub the films. Even actors from the countries where the film was to be shown were often dubbed by voice actors for various reasons such as the actors were already busy making another film, they wanted to be paid additional salaries for dubbing their voices, the actor’s voice didn’t fit the character they were playing, accidents to the actors and in some cases even death before the film could be dubbed.

in a while a bio on a specific voice actor as in Europe these actors are as
well-known as the actors they voiced.

Jesús Nieto (1927 – 1999)
Jesús Nieto Obejero was born in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca, Spain on June 28, 1927. Nieto was trained as an announcer in Radio Juventud and Radio Madrid, he debuted as a dubber in the Hugo Donarelli studios in Madrid in the early 1950s. He was discovered by Hugo Donarelli, who gave him a dubbing contract. He was hired by the Sánchez brothers of "Sevilla film", where he would begin a prolific career, characterized by his ductility and a voice full of nuances, being able to adapt to any role. From the most absolute heartthrob to any secondary character with any peculiarity difficult to imitate. At the beginning of the 1970s, he founded "Arcofón-Doyson", where he would be its artistic director and in which he carried out many works. At the beginning of the 1980s, he moved to Barcelona when he was hired by a studio as artistic director, although he disassociated himself and began to dub and direct in the Barcelona studios, becoming a regular dubber until his death. Thanks to his ductility, he was able to dub countless actors between Madrid and Barcelona; actors such as Jack Lemmon, Anthony Perkins, Richard Burton, Peter Falk, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Ed Asner, Marlon Brando, Gary Cooper, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Michael Caine, David Carradine, Clint Eastwood, Clark Gable, Ian Holm, Bob Hope, Dean Martin, George Peppard, Rod Steiger, etc. In addition, he voiced Paul Naschy in his films. Such was his ductility, that he came to dub an actress: Linda Hunt in the film "The Year of Living Dangerously", dubbed in 1982, Linda Hunt, won an Oscar. When he dubbed R. Lee Ermey in "Full Metal Jacket", he had to reduce his workday, when he became horse because of all the shouts that the actor gave. In all he dubbed more than 2000 roles and directed hundreds of films and series.
Nieto's contribution to the world of dubbing does not end with his indisputable artistic skills: he and Luis María Lasala were also the main promoters of the first associations in defense of the labor rights of dubbing actors and the foundation of the Professional Association of Dubbing Actors of Madrid (APADEMA). Nieto also actively participated in the creation of the collective dubbing agreement of December 1979 after a nationwide strike of synchronization professionals.
His most remembered and praised works were for TVE: the original dubbing of Peter Falk in the TV series ‘Columbo ‘from 1973 and Edward Asner in the series ‘Lou Grant’ from 1980.
His wife was actress Celia Honrubia (Celia Riva García) [1929-2014], and his daughters actress María Jesús Nieto [1961- ] and María del Mar Nieto.
Jesús Nieto died in Madrid, Spain on January 26, 1999. He
was 71.
