New Italian documentary “Lui era Trinita”

He Was Trinity is the documentary on the life and career of film producer Italo Zingarelli, who in the 70s brought two blockbuster films to the big screen: They Call Me Trinity and They Continued to Call Me Trinity (both written and directed by Enzo Barboni), films that decreed the international success of the couple Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, and which continue to enjoy the same success today. The documentary, telling the story of Zingarelli, also tells of the birth and the reasons for the success of the films of the "Trinity series" – and of its two unforgettable performers. Some of his closest collaborators and friends, including Terence Hill, Bud Spencer (in an unpublished interview in 2004), Dario Argento, Giovanna Ralli, tell the story of Zingarelli's figure and career. Their voices are joined by that of film critic Mario Sesti and that of director and author, an expert in genre films, Luca Rea – as well as that of Zingarelli's children. The result is a portrait of a sui generis film producer, kind, generous and visionary, who with his films gave birth to the Fagioli Western genre – putting the Spaghetti Western in crisis – and who, with his work, changed the history of Italian cinema and beyond.
