Spaghetti Western Location ~ Titulcia, Spain

Titulcia is a small village on the barren hills overlooking the Rio Jarama, 35 kilometers southeast of Madrid and ten kilometers north of Aranjuez; some westerns were shot in the area between the hills with vertical walls and the Rio Jarama, which in particular they used a picturesque bend in the river, the rugged cliffs and the plain below was suitable for riding and chasing scenes.

The area remained intact, having been situated in a protected area: Parque Regional del Sureste - Soto Bayona Sociorrecreativa Area. Today, however, the vegetation is much denser than the area was years ago, also due to the introduction of poplar trees on the western shore.

Film titles which were shot here waa in a sequence of “The Terrible Sheriff” (1962); “Zorro the Avenger” (1962); “Ride and Kill” (1963); “Gunfight at Red Sands (1963); (the scene of the clash with the government forces, with a very dramatic use of the rocks); “The Man of the Cursed Valley” (1964); “The Relentless Four” (1966); The Hellbenders” (1967); “John the Bastard” (1967) (a scene of the gun fight on the river); Between God, the Devil and a Winchester” (1968) (the bend of the river was also used); “Land Raiders” (1969) (with excellent scenes in the first part); “A Stranger in Paso Bravo” (1968); “Villa Rides!” (scenes with Robert Mitchum's plane); “Sundance Cassidy and Butch the Kid” (1969) (also the bend of the river is used); “Sartana Kills Them All” (1970); “Reverend Colt” (1970) (the scene of the funeral and the chase of the bandit gang); “Long Live Your Death” (1971) (the bend of the river).
