During the endless months of the lockdown, millions of Italians (not to say all) turned to the story of cinema to resist  their containment. They searched everywhere for films, to entertain themselves, spend some time, have fun and be moved. And in many cases they have rediscovered, if not discovered, the greatness of Italian cinema, often automatically remembered as 'the second in the world'. And sometimes rightly, like the first. Now a documentary film reaches those audiences to tell a great story, if not the greatest, on how Italian cinema was born and reached the top of the world, through the story of its directors, their stars and their masterpieces. All gathered under one job, that of the film producer, and a name, which made this story possible.

Cecchi Gori - An Italian family is the film, written and directed by Simone Isola and Marco Spagnoli, presented in the world premiere at the Rome Film Festival and to be released on July 14 in Prima Visione On demand on the main platforms, CG Digital, Apple TV , Google Play, Chili and Rakuten, which tells the unrepeatable adventure of a family of producers, Mario Cecchi Gori, and his son Vittorio, who are able for six decades to give our cinema many of its greatest hits to audiences and critics , in Italy and abroad. A factory capable of creating phenomena of divismo entered into the collective imagination, and perhaps to positively affect the lives of a country. An unmatched story in our cinema, which can be summarized with a number: 4 Oscar awards.

To tell this story is Vittorio Cecchi Gori, protagonist in the turn of a story-in-history, passionate, dramatic and adventurous like a film. From his words as a man who has known glory and dust, and at present of resistant dignity, viewers have as a gift not only the vision of titles that have accompanied them for half a century, and still do today. But also a private epic that tells a lot about Italy, its history, politics, power, and humanity. In Cecchi Gori - An Italian family, there is the story of a great dream, an unparalleled lesson on what cinema is, and a piece of everyone's lives, we spectators. Produced by Giuseppe Lepore for Bielle Re, and distributed by Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, Cecchi Gori - An Italian family sees the precious testimonies of a stellar cast, friends who remained close despite everything to Vittorio Cecchi Gori: from Oscar winners Roberto Benigni and Giuseppe Tornatore, to the box-office champions Leonardo Pieraccioni and Carlo Verdone, to friends Lino Banfi, Rocco Papaleo and Marco Risi. As well as the great coaches and champions of Fiorentina, family passion, Giancarlo Antognoni, Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini, current CT of the Italian national football team, retracing the birth and rise of the largest Italian film production and distribution group of all time, with over 300 hits produced and well over 1,000 distributed over 50 years of continuous growth with "Silence", the Martin Scorsese film released in 2016, the last film that saw Vittorio Cecchi Gori in the production team.

Cecchi Gori - An Italian family is the story of fathers and children, passionate intellectuals, men who are sometimes weak in front of the many women in their lives, but - notes the director Marco Spagnoli - it is also the story of a Renaissance workshop that became an industry with ambition to turn into something else.
