50th Anniversary of “And God Said to Cain”

Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the premier of “And God Said to Cain” in Rome, Italy directed by Antonio Margheriti as Anthony Steffen and starring Klaus Kinski and Peter Carstens. The film tells the tale of Gary Hamilton (Kinski) who is granted a pardon from a prison work camp and immediately he heads out after the men who framed him. The film is set at a stormy night in town when Hamilton takes his revenge. Only a director with a background in horror films would come up with the idea of casting Klaus Kinski as a hero. He’s not the usual hero because he doesn't look his enemies in the eye but stalks them and doesn't hesitate to take advantage of the fear and panic and will shoot them in the back if possible. Kinski turns in probably, his best acting performance with his captivating performance.
