An unknown Clint Eastwood, actor, director, producer,
musician and American composer, was the protagonist of the first film of the
"Trilogy of Dollars" directed by Sergio Leone in the 1960s. "For
a Fistful of Dollars" was filmed, in a good part in the old western set
located in Hoyo de Manzanares. Then followed such iconic films as "For a
Few Dollars More" and "The Good, the Bd and the Ugly", in addition
to numerous other films of various genres, which catapulted this great
professional to fame.
Now, the Town Hall of Hoyo de Manzanares will pay homage
to his figure with the placement of a bronze statue in a site, still to be
designated, in the town center. The distinguished actor has been invited to
visit our town, although his advanced age has delayed the confirmation of his
attendance.
The acts around this tribute are many and varied. As
things have been known by CosasdeHoyo, the Tourism Office of the town plans to
customize its stand in the next edition of Fitur with the theme of western
cinema. Also the 2019 edition of "Hoyo, un pueblo de película", from
the group Hoyo Cine, has proposed a representation of the mythical scene of the
duel in the Plaza Mayor with the help of even a video mapping at night.
Among other activities, following the fashion of the
great musicals, a casting has been planned to choose the participants of
"Hoyo en el Oeste", which will be performed at the Teatro Las Cigüeñas
at the end of May and then join the network of theaters of the Community of
Madrid and make a tour of other towns and cities of Spain. The chosen ones will
be rewarded with "A Fistful of Dollars".
"Without a doubt this tribute will be a good
reference to promote Hoyo de Manzanares in the world", acknowledged
sources of the City Council.
