The legendary box office success "The Shoe of Manitu" will continue with "The Canoe of Manitu". Everything known so far about the cult film sequel.

Almost exactly 24 years to the day after his huge success "The Shoe of Manitu", the popular comedian Michael "Bully" Herbig, 56, will bring the sequel "The Canoe of Manitu" to German cinemas. After the sequel was announced at the beginning of the year, and a short time later the start date was announced, the first details about the plot of "The Shoe of Manitu 2" have now been determined. This is known so far about Bully's return as Abahachi.

Then "The Canoe of Manitu" starts

"We are thrilled to announce the sequel to 'The Shoe of Manitu': Abahachi, Ranger and Dimitri will return to the big screen in 2025 with 'The Canoe of Manitu'!" said the first announcement of the highly anticipated sequel in January.

A short time later, Constantin Film announced the start date for "The Canoe of Manitu". The second part of the Western parody will be released in German cinemas on August 14, 2025 - in the middle of the summer holidays.

This is what "The Shoe of Manitu 2" is about

While the first announcement of the project still mentioned that the main characters Abahachi, Ranger and Dimitri, played by the "Bullyparade" stars Herbig, Christian Tramitz, 69, and Rick Kavanian, 53, would also be part of part two, new details about the plot of "The Canoe of Manitu" are now available thanks to a press release from the German Federal Film Board.

According to this, the two blood brothers Abahachi and Ranger are set a trap by a gang. The gangsters want to get hold of the legendary "Canoe of Manitu". Ranger and Abahachi therefore unjustly end up on the gallows, and once again have to fear for their lives.

But literally at the last second, the lovable Dimitri appears on the scene. The loyal companion rescues Abahachi and Ranger, but then the trio realizes that what happened was just part of a bigger plan, and their next big adventure is just beginning.

In addition to the already mentioned main actors Herbig, Tramitz and Kavanian, it has not yet been decided which actors from part one will return. Certainly, many fans would like to see Sky du Mont, 77, who embodied the iconic villain Santa Maria in "The Shoe of Manitu" and a thirty-minute segment from "Bullyparade - The Movie" from 2017.

Whether du Mont will really be part of the party is not yet clear. A return of other top-class actors such as Marie Bäumer, 55, or Hilmi Sözer, 54, from part one has also not yet been officially confirmed.

Michael "Bully" Herbig, who is also responsible for the screenplay together with Kavanian and Tramitz, will once again direct "Das Kanu des Manitu".

The original film "The Shoe of Manitu" is one of the most successful German cinema releases ever. In the summer of 2001, 11.7 million viewers flocked to the cinemas to enjoy the loving parody of the Karl May film adaptations that were successful in the 1960s with Pierre Brice (1929-2015) as Winnetou and Lex Barker (1919-1973) as his blood brother Old Shatterhand.
