The prison camp scene in both “Death Rides a Horse” (1967) and “A Long Ride from Hell” (1968) was Canalone di Toffa outside of Rome, Italy. It’s actually a steep mountain pass which the cameraman filmed one side of the canyon to create the effect of a large quarry. The location was also seen in “Today We Kill, Tomorrow We Die” (1968) and “The 5-Man Army” (1969).
