Three years after the first news about it, Stefano
Sollima is finally ready to shoot Colt, a western movie that will be shot in
English based on an idea by Sergio Leone himself, whose shooting should begin
this winter in the snowy mountains of Canada.
Originally conceived as a television series ("but
now there are too many around"), Colt takes its inspiration from the
pistol gripped by the unnamed protagonist of “Per una pugno di dollars” of
1964, with Raffaella and Andrea Leone, who will supervise and produce the
feature film with their Leone Film Group, together with Lotus Production and
RAI Cinema.

Sollima set’s the story of the formation of three
orphaned children, aged 12 to 13, who come into possession of this weapon, and
for a whole series of reasons they become criminals. I can assure you that a
twelve year old with a Colt in his hand is quite impressive. I want to bring
the Spaghetti Western genre home.
We remember that the director's father, Sergio Sollima,
was among the pioneers of the beloved genre, directing stars of the caliber of
Lee Van Cleef and Tomas Milian.
As happened in the past, Stefano Sollima and the
producers are looking for the future protagonists, antagonists, young and
adults, in the United States.

Sergio Leone has reinvented the genre, so anyone else who
spins a western must consider his work, but Colt will not be a tribute to
Quentin Tarantino.
The director, specifying the film's target, finally
concluded:
I once told my children when they were just teenagers:
"I'd like to do a western." And they replied: "What is a
western?" Their generation does not know western movies. They didn't see
them in the cinema. I thought it would be interesting to guide them to this
genre with a story that speaks to them.
