In 1969’s “Big Gundown” Tomas Milian as Cuchillo is
brutalized by the ranch hands of the widow while Jonathan Corbett (Lee Van
Cleef) is being entertained in the house. In one of the scenes he is thrown
into a pit of mud which is usually made of chocolate pudding but they did not
have the time to concoct such a mixture so Milian decided, against the wishes
of director Sergio Sollima and the crew, who feared he might get sick, to just
dive into the existing pile of pig, cow and goat manure and other barnyard waste
that was there.
