Mariano Laurenti was
born on April 15, 1929 in Rome, Italy. He started his career as an assistant
director in the 1950s, alongside pros such as Mauro Bolognini, Mario Mattioli,
Camillo Mastrocinque, Dino Risi and Steno, the latter the main figure of his
artistic training.
Over the years, he became first a representative of musicals, then director of the comedy team Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia, and finally the director of Italian sex comedies of the 1970s. Among which were his only Euro-western, “The Grandson of Zorro” (1975).
In the 1980’s he became the mentor of the Neapolitan artist Nino D'Angelo, and a producer of his films.
Today we celebrate Mariano Laurenti’s 85th birthday.
