Almeria Western Film Festival


Almería, capital of the world 'western'. Between September 8th and 11th will be held the first edition of the Almer
ía Western Film Festival, an event dedicated to western films.
Almeria, mythical scene of the westerns of Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood, was the world capital of the genre. Between the 8th and 11th September will be held in the desert of Tabernas, in the area of the legendary film locations such as Fort Bravo, the first edition of the Almeria Western Film Festival. The only European event dedicated to this genre, the AWFF Official Section competition will screen such recent films as "Blackthorn", "True Grit" and "The Scarlet Worm" will be competing with other titles of the last two years that have not been seen in Spain.

The aspiration of AWFF hopes to become a reference for fans of the genre and reclaim the legacy of a the place that became the watchword of the Spaghetti Western, but also appeal to all audiences. Therefore, in addition to a film program complete with a retrospective of classic European westerns like "Four of the Apocalypse" (Lucio Fulci, 1975), "Duck You Sucker" (Sergio Leone, 1971) and "Reverend Colt" (Leon Klimovsky, 1971), the
organizers have devised a series of parallel activities ranging from rock concerts to performances of specialists.

Western lovers of all kinds will want to attend the Almeria Western Film Festival.
