Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Thomas Alder

These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be gven and anything that you can add would be appreciated.

Thomas Alder was born Anton Straßmair in Murnau am Staffelsee, Germany on January 1, 1932. He became an assistant director, theater, film and television actor and also was a musician in a band called ‘Violetta’. He was married to Ulla Desch and was the father of two children. His short career consisted of thirty-four films and television appearances starting in 1958 with an appearance as Ladislaus in Die Heinzelmännchen (The Shoemaker) where he was billed as Toni Straßmeier and ending with two appearances as Dieter Ziemsen on the television series ‘Stewardessen’ in 1968. These episodes were not shown until 1969 after his suicide by asphyxiation on May 6, 1968 in Munich. He was only 36 years-old.

Adler appeared in two Euro-westerns: “Massacre at Marble City” in1964 as Erik Brendel and

“A Fistful of Songs” in 1966 as ‘The German’.
