This documentary highlights the career of a
quintessential Frenchman whose music shaped many of the most striking films of
the French New Wave, Resnais s Hiroshima Mon Amour to Truffaut s Jules and Jim
among them. Yet Delerue finished his prolific career as Hollywood s most sought
after film composer (Silkwood, Salvador, Steel Magnolias). This film explores
the intersection of French, British and Hollywood film culture through Delerue
s collaborations with Truffaut, Oliver Stone (Salvador and Platoon) and Ken
Russell (Women in Love), through interviews with Stone and Russell (as well as
film scholars and film editors who worked with Delerue) plus clips from Shoot
the Piano Player, Jules and Jim, Women in Love, Day for Night, Salvador, A Walk
with Love, Death and The Story of Adèle H.
