Documentary on the evolution of the Italian western. Django, Sweetwater, Flagstone and Sergio Leone - magical names for fans of the Spaghetti westerns! Between 1964 and 1974, around 550 spaghetti westerns were filmed in Almeria. What led to this mass production, which phases they went through and why they ended? And what this meant for the participants and the venues around Almeria? One can still see the locations of many of the films and visit a Western stunt show. Hans-Jürgen Panitz & Peter Dollinger go to sites and film archeology of the Spaghetti westerns while interviews with several of the participants fill in the story.
