May Heatherly has hip replacement

FREE NEWS POS. - May, 30th, 1913 - BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- A Spanish actress known for her roles in such movies as "Goya's Ghost" and "Cannibal Apocalypse" is recuperating after traveling from Spain to have hip replacement surgery at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.
A hospital news release today said May Heatherly, 56, came to the Birmingham hospital for a new minimally invasive technique where the patient's leg can be positioned so that the total hip replacement can be done through a small incision of four to six inches.
"By doing it this way, there is not as much damaged tissue that needs to heal," Dr. Theodis Buggs, a Princeton Baptist orthopedic surgeon who performed the procedure on Heatherly, said in the release. "So there is less pain and a faster return to normal everyday activities for the patient."
The release quotes Heatherly as saying she was told in Spain she'd spend six weeks on crutches followed by a month of physiotherapy.
Heatherly had surgery on May 1, was released two days later -- and in less than a week was moving without crutches or a walker. She is currently staying with a sister in Birmingham.

"I feel absolutely fantastic," Heatherly said in the release. "I can't believe this has happened so fast. I'm really amazed. I'm already walking all over the place. I have to make myself remember that I just had major surgery."

The movie website IMDb lists 45 movie and television credits for Heatherly dating back to 1961, including appearances in episodes of TV shows "Gunsmoke" and "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."
"Goya's Ghost," a 2006 bio-drama. May also appeared in the Euro-western “Torrejón City” (1962) and the Euro-western TV film “Outlaw Justice” (1999).

  1. 56? I'm 56. She was an adult when she appeared in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." (she was also a major babe) and that was 50 years ago.

  2. Yes she has to be in her early 70s at the least. Since she's considered a Spanish actress the Free News probably printed what they were told by her or her sister.
