Ralph Joachim Boettner was born on February 11, 1923 in
Erfurt, Thueringen, Germany. After his training as an actor in Erfurt stage
engagements he moved on to Rudolstadt, Arnstadt, Nordhausen, Gotha, Schwerin,
Potsdam, Rostock and Berlin. He then became a film and television actor for
DEFA, East German television and in film productions for other socialist
states. Working as an actor led Boettner into directing for television films,
such as 1974 “Death on the Mississippi”. Ralph appeared in only one
Euro-western “Kit & Co.” (1974) as Big Burke. Boettner died in East Berlin
in March of 1982. Today we remember Ralph Boettner on what would have been his
90th birthday.
