The western score for 1963’s “Duello nel Texas” (Gunfight
at Red Sands) was done by an Italian composer using the name Dan Savio. This
was the composer’s first western score but he would go on to score dozens more
Italian westerns, working most notably with such directors as Sergio Leone,
Sergio Corbucci and Sergio Sollima. That composer’s real name was Ennio
Morricone.
