Peter Ehlebracht is a German comedian, musician, actor, and author known for his role as a founding member of the comedy quartet Insterburg & Co. during the 1960s and 1970s. Born on August 6, 1940, in Leer, Lower Saxony, Germany, Ehlebracht began performing in Berlin student pubs before forming the group with Ingo Insterburg, Jürgen Barz, and Karl Dall, where they specialized in absurd humor, musical parodies, and nonsense comedy. The ensemble achieved popularity through live performances, recordings, and the television series ‘Insterburg & Co.’ (1972–1977), establishing Ehlebracht as a key figure in German cabaret and light entertainment.In addition to his work with Insterburg & Co., Ehlebracht pursued an acting career in films such as “Quartett im Bett” (1968) and “Chapeau claque” (1974), often contributing as a writer and performer. He has also released music as a solo artist and group member, and later transitioned into authorship, publishing non-fiction books. His multifaceted career spans comedy, music, film, and literature, leaving a lasting impact on German popular culture in the postwar era.
Peter Ehlebracht appeared in one Spaghetti western, “Freddy im wilden Westen” (The Sheriff was a Lady) as a saloon patron in 1964.
