RIP Jaime Jesús Balcázar

 

Spanish producer, director and writer Jaime Jesús Balcázar Granada died in Palamós, Girona, Catalonia, Spain on July 15^th. He was 91. Jaime, the younger brother of director and producer Alfonso was born Barcelona on January 27, 1934. Together they made a number of feature films, of which three Italo Westerns became the most famous. As a member of the Balcázar family, which dominated the Catalan film market, he was initially responsible for the dubbing of the films produced before making his first film, not for his own company, but for Leda Films from Madrid. This was followed by six major film releases. In his later years, he turned to fictional erotic films. Several films were made in collaboration with the German director Hubert Frank. Jaime was involved in nine Spaghetti westerns: “The Man from Oklahoma” in 1964 as director, “Ranch of the Ruthless” as director and “Sunscorched” as director both in 1965, “$4.00 of Revenge” as director and writer, “Thompson 1880”as writer both in 1966, “Gentleman Killer” as writer, “Professionals for a Massacre” as a writer both in 1967, “Sonora” as a writer and “Twice a Judas” as a writer both in 1968.
