Spaghetti Western Locations for “Companeros”

We begin our search for filming locations for 1970’s  “Companeros” directed by Sergio Corbucci and starring Franco Nero, Tomas Milian. Jack Palance, Iris Berben and Fernando Rey.

Over the opening credits with Ennio Morricone’s score in the background we see a young Mexican girl run through the village of San Bernardino stopping at a railroad station where two men Yodlaf ‘The Penguin’ Petersen an El Vascoi face each other ready for a gundown. Much like Corbucci’s other Mexican Revolutinary film “The Mercenary” the film starts with a showdown and then tells the rest of the story in flash backs.

San Bernardino is in reality El Argamason, Almeria, Spain.

While the opening duel is set at Villamanta, Spain. There are no longer any railroad tracks.
