Who Are Those Composers ~ Aldo Piga

Aldo Piga was born in New York City on October 16, 1928. His work was mainly produced in the 1950s and 1960s in Italy. He started as a song writer and later became a film composer. He participated in the Italian pop music field with two entries in the Sanremo song festival, one of which was overshadowed in the year 1958 by the famous Domenico Modugno song "Volare". He recorded about one hundred film soundtracks where his activity as a composer was strongly influenced by classical music and bebop jazz roots of his early years in the New York music scene. After a promising career as a music writer, he decided to start working as a film producer in the late 1960s. This change led to an end to both of his careers as a songwriter/composer and producer. In the 1990s Piga left Italy to retire and return to New York where he spent his last days until his death on March 1, 1994.
