Melody Jean was part of an Italian monthly publication
called Collana Grandi Adventure where the main story alternated monthly
starring one of four characters. One of the characters was Melody John a
western adventurer who traveled the Far West during the early days of the
frontier. His adventures found him battling Indians, wildlife and town bullies.
Melody Jean was drawn by Leone Frollo. The comic book
collection was published from January - June 1966 by S.E.P.I.M.
Leone Frollo was in Venice Italy on April 9, 1931. He
debuted in 1948 with a western called Sui
Grandi Laghi ("On the Great Lakes"). From 1958 to 1968, he worked
for the London agency Fleetway, doing war stories. After that, until the
mid-1980s worked in several genres, including fantasy and horror, but
especially erotic comics. His main work in the erotic genre in this period is Biancaneve, based on Snow White, Lucifera and Yra, which he did for Edifumetto.
After 1987, he changed his style and drew some series for
the French market: Malicieusement Femmes,
Mona Street and Diva. Mona Street, the erotic
adventures of a young American lady, who has just graduated from college in
Boston, was set in the first decade of the 20th century, and was Frollo's last
comic book work.
After abandoning comics, Frollo dedicated himself to
erotic work, doing illustrations on paper with water colors, pencil, and
pastels.
