Roberto Font
was born Roberto Font Donís on October 21, 1904 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The
son of actor Enrique Font and actress Elisa
Donís he was born in a dressing room between acts one and two of “El rey que rabió” while his parents were on tour.
Roberto appeared on stage a few months later in his mother’s arms in “Uncle
Tom’s Cabin”.
When he was
twenty-two, Roberto, a sailor, abandoned the trade and followed the path to the
theater. He came to Spain in 1926 and made his film debut in 1935’s “Amor en maniobras”. He alternated between film and
theater. He appeared in “El pobre rico”, “Gracia y justicia”, “Un drama Nuevo”
and “Fray torero” among others.
Returning to
Latin America, he worked in the company of Maria Felix before returning to
Spain once again in 1957, after six years in the land of his birth. Besides his
appearances in film and television, Roberto Font returned to work in the
theater. Specifically, he played a role in“La sirena varada” Alejandro Casona. He also made several
comedies and trajedies.
Font appeared
in two Euro-westerns: “Epitaph for a Fast Gun” (1965) and again in “Yankee
Dudler” (1973) in the role of August Keller.
Roberto died
on June 16, 1981 in Madrid, Spain at the age of 76.

remember Roberto Font on what would have been his 110th birthday.
