Gunther Stoll was born on August 18, 1924 in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. As a soldier in World War II, he fell into British captivity, from which he was released in 1948 and immediately began an unsuccessful career in the theater at Regensburg. Then he made his living to 1954 in various jobs by, for example as a football coach. In 1954 he went to Nuremberg and worked at the local theater, where he remained until 1957. He then worked in Aachen, Bremen and Hamburg where he simultaneously began his career in television and finally in 1966 with the Francis Durbridge Straßenfeger “Melissa” he became known nationwide. He was married from February 1971 until his untimely death in on January 12, 1977 in Walsrode, Lower Saxony, Germany from a heart attack, to the pop singer Edina Pop. His last known role was that of detective Schröder in the TV series ‘Derrick’.
Stoll appeared in two Euro-westerns: “Beyond the Law” (1967) and “Return of Sabata” (1971).
