Happy 70th Birthday James Mitchum

James Robin ‘Jim’ Mitchum was born on May 8, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of actor Robert Mitchum [1917-1997] the nephew of actor John Mitchum [1919-2001] and brother of Christopher Mitchum [1943- ]. Jim was the spitting image of his father so because of his looks and his name he began an acting career and at the age of eight made his screen debut in "Colorado Territory" (1949). His first credited appearance was as in "Thunder Road" (1958) playing his father’s much younger brother. His solo career was comprised of mostly westerns and war films. His career had some longevity and his last film appearance to date was in 1992's "Gengis Khan". His career never developed any depth and most of his films were relegated to ‘B’ films. His younger brother Chris Mitchum would develop into a much better and more remembered actor in his still continuing career. James was married to actress Wende Wagner [1941-1997] from 1967 until their divorce in 1978. His son Price Mitchum has followed the family tradition and is an actor. Jim lives near Prescott, Arizona and for quite awhile worked in real estate. He made several appearances in 2008 surrounding the 50th anniversary of "Thunder Road". Jim appeared in two Euro-westerns starring in "Massacre at Grand Canyon" (1964) and "The Tramplers" (1965) with Joseph Cotten and Gordon Scott. Today we celebrate James Mitchum’s 70th birthday.
