Vladimir Pavlovich Basov was born in Urazovo, Kursk Governorate, Russia, U.S.S.R. on July 28, 1923. He was a director, writer, film and TV actor and voice actor. His father was a Red commander, so the family often moved from city to city.
In the summer of 1941, Basov came to VGIK to find out the rules for admission to this educational institution. It was explained to him what documents are required for this, what exams he will have to take. He left, firmly convinced that he would definitely enroll. But his rosy plans were suddenly interrupted by World War II.
Basov went to the front in July 1941. At first, Lieutenant of the Quartermaster Service Basov served as the head of the club of the 4th Separate Rifle Brigade, for the excellent organization of amateur performances in combat conditions he was awarded the medal "For Military Merit". And then his military fate takes a sharp turn and Vladimir Basov became a mortarman. Many feats were performed by the mortar battery of Senior Lieutenant Basov, he himself was wounded on February 23, 1945, returned to the ranks after being wounded. He finished the war with the rank of captain and as deputy head of the operational department of the 28th Separate Artillery Division of the breakthrough reserve of the Main Command. He had every chance to stay in the military and make a brilliant career, but he preferred to retire to civilian life.
In 1947 he entered the directing faculty (workshop of S.I. Yutkevich and M.I. Romm). In 1952, after graduating from VGIK, as an assistant director, he participated in the filming of the film "Przhevalsky" (the director of the film was his teacher Sergei Yutkevich). His first directorial work was an adaptation of the play "The Hangover" (1953, together with Mstislav Korchagin).
He made his film debut in his film a war/adventure film “Shkola Muzhestva” (The School of Courage) (1954). He went on to appear in more than 95 films where Vladimir wass a brilliant character and comedy actor.
Vladimir
Pavlovich was married three times. His first wife was actress Roza Makagonova.
His second wife was actress Natalia Fateeva, and in 1959 they had a son, Vladimir Basov, who became a director, like his father. His third wife is actress Valentina Titova. In this marriage, two children were born: a son, Alexander (director) and daughter Elizabeth (dancer).
Vladimir Basov died on the morning of September 17, 1987, from a second stroke in his Moscow apartment.
Basov appeared in only one Euro-western and that was as Pap Finn in 1973’s “Sovsem propashchiy” (The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) directed by Georgiy Daneliya and starring Roman Madyanov as Huck and Felix Imoukhuede as Jim.

On an arid and rocky land, crushed under a merciless blue sky, frustrated men, a father and his sons. In destitution and poverty, the conflict between them can only be resolved by death. Prisoners of the mute splendor of the spaces that surround them, of its slow breathing, they struggle against their own violence, constantly clashing with reality, with all that it has to give. Death falls upon them with indifference.
Alberto Dell’Acqua was the most famous of the Dell Acqua brothers; Arnaldo Dell'Acqua, Roberto Dell’Acqua, Ottaviano Dell’Acqua and actress Fernanda Dell'Acqua (Fern Water). They came from a circus family and all were trained acrobats. Alberto was born in Campobasso, Molise, Campobasso Italy on May 14, 1944. He was hired as a stuntman because of his athletic abilities Alberto soon became a main supporting actor in the Italian film industry starting in the mid-1960s. Sometimes billed as Robert Widmark and Cole Kitosch he appeared in thirty Euro-westerns. He usually played the younger brother to the main actor or a family member as in his first film “7 Guns for the MacGregors”. His handsome appearance and his pleasant smile made him a fan favorite and he graduated to larger co-starring roles. Often one or more of his brothers would appear in his films especially if there was a call for a saloon brawl.
Some of his better-known westerns are: “7 Guns for the MacGregors” (1965) “Up the MacGregors” (1966) “Texas, Adios” (aka “The Avenger”) (1966), “This Man Can’t Die” (1967), “Kill Them All and Comeback Alone” (1968) and “Alleluia and Sartana, Sons of God” (1972). He starred in “Trinity and Sartana are Coming” (1972) and “Son of Zorro” (1973).
His career has since tailed off and he once again is participating periodically in the circus as a knife thrower.
Alberto was awarded the “'Tabernas de Cine' Award” at the 2017 Almeria Western Film Festival for his long career in the Spaghetti westerns filmed in Spain.

Richard Roundtree, who broke ground with his signature role in the Shaft movie franchise, passed away on October 24, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 81. Born Richard Arnold Roundtree on July 9, 1942, in New Rochelle, New York, Roundtree’s career spanned five decades and included everything from his most popular blaxploitation role to a very early appearance on ‘As the World Turns’ in 1956. Decades later, the actor reprised his role in the 2000 John Singleton movie “Shaft” starring Samuel L. Jackson and the 2019 Tim Story-directed sequel “Shaft”. Richard was married twice and had five children. Roundtree appeared in one Spaghetti Western 1972’s “Charley-One-Eye as ‘The Black Man’ with co-star Roy Thinnes.

Mary Basler was born Maria Lieser and was a German screenwriter for early silent films. She was married to a chemist named Doctor Karl August Basler who under the alias Adolf Basler, produced and helped write films for their son producer, director, screenwriter, cameraman, film actor Hermann Basler [1896-1982].
Mary appeared in only one film and that was alongside her son Hermann in the 1920 “Bull Arizona - Der Wüstenadler” (Bull Arizona – The Desert Eagle) directed by Phil Jutzi. Bull Arizona was a six-act play released in two films and Mary appeared in the “Bull Arizona - Desert Eagle” playing the role of Mrs. Ferry.
I can find no other biographical information about her.

The desert of Tabernas has been designated as a Site of Cinematographic Interest (SCI), the only one in Andalusia, at the meeting held last weekend by representatives of eight Film and Audiovisual Academies of the peninsula. The recognition was announced by the Andalusian Film Academy, at the Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center in Ourense, within the framework of the VII Meeting of Film Academies, held in this city.
They point out that, since the 60s, this desert located in Almeria has been the scene of "thousands of film and advertising shootings", which has led it to be known as the "European Hollywood".
The role of this location is "fundamental in the history of cinema", both in the "mythical westerns" of Sergio Leone and in the mark left by works as disparate as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Steven Spielberg), Lawrence of Arabia (David Lean), Conan the Barbarian (John Milius), Exodus or more recently with Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and Strange Way of Life (Pedro Almodóvar). An "arid landscape" through which some of the best-known performers such as Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sofia Loren and a long etcetera have passed.
Last year, the European Film Academy awarded the title of Treasure of European Cinematography to this natural enclave, within the framework of the Almeria International Film Festival. The presence of the Spanish academies at the event "was undoubtedly the driving force behind this new recognition", which had the support of the Provincial Council of Almeria.
The LIC distinction recognises spaces of special relevance for the audiovisual industry, either for their value in film production, their historical importance or their symbolic significance. This distinction highlights the cultural and cinematographic richness of each territory and encourages the preservation and promotion of these spaces that have contributed significantly to the history and audiovisual identity of the peninsula.
At this meeting, the Andalusian Film Academy was represented by Regina Martin, coordinator of this institution, and in addition to the desert of Tabernas, the following SCIs were designated: Sos del Rey Católico (Zaragoza), Llanes (Asturias), the Collegiate Church of Sant Vicenç de Cardona (Barcelona), Guadalupe and the Geopark of Villuerca-Ibores-Jara (Cáceres), the Village of Facós, Lobeira (Ourense), and in Portugal Tóbis Portuguesa (Lisbon) Valencia: L'Albufera (Valencia).
The announcement of the Places of Cinematographic Interest put the culmination of the VII Meeting of Film and Audiovisual Academies, held between September 29 and October 1 within the framework of the Ourense Film Festival. The academies expressed their concern for sustainability, and committed to review the impact that the activities carried out by each of the institutions have on the environment.
They also recognized the importance of investing in
audiovisual education to help the viewers of the future understand, create and
analyze audiovisual content, giving them tools to consume content critically
and promoting creative expression and effective communication.
