German film, TV and voice actor Axel Schreiber died after
a long battle with cancer in Germany on June 3rd he was 49 Axel grew up in Groß
Leuthen and graduated from the Paul-Gerhardt-Gymnasium in Lübben. From August
1996 to June 2000, he completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Spreewaldbank
eG. From 2001 to 2004, Schreiber studied at the Hanover University of Music and
Drama. From 2001 he worked as an actor. After small appearances in films and
series, he played major roles in the two feature films “Weißt was geil
wär...?!” and “Berlin am Meer”. He appeared in more than 50 film and television
productions and gained greater fame in 2006 for his role as Axel Mende in the
series ‘Turkish for Beginners’. In 2013, he played the role of Mark Wagner in
the series ‘Christine. Perfect was yesterday!’. He embodied his last role in
spring 2025 in several episodes of the ARD hospital series ‘In aller
Freundschaft’. Here he played Mirko Hoffmann, the brother of Dr. Kai Hoffmann,
who is played by Julian Weigend. Schreiber appeared in one Euro-western as
Deputy Sheriff Wilson in 2022’s “The Young Chief Winnetou”.
