Spaghetti Western Director ~ Ragnar Frisk

Ragnar Frisk was a Swedish film director known for his prolific output of popular comedy films, particularly for directing fourteen entries in the long-running Åsa-Nisse series of rural comedies that achieved substantial commercial success in Sweden despite often receiving modest critical reception.

Born on December 15, 1902, in Hudiksvall, Sweden, Frisk began his film career with an uncredited acting role in 1939 and later worked as an assistant cameraman starting in the late 1940s. He transitioned to directing in 1945 with Sten Stensson “kommer till stan”, followed by “Hammarforsens brus” (1948), before specializing in light-hearted, broad comedies during the 1950s through 1970s. His body of work includes multiple installments in other series like “47:an Löken”, and he also contributed as a screenwriter and occasional actor.

Frisk's films were characterized by their accessible humor and appeal to general audiences, contributing significantly to popular Swedish cinema of the postwar era. He died on December 11, 1984 in Stockholm, Sweden days before turning 82.

Spaghetti Western Screenwriter ~ Patricia Chase

Patricia Stamm Moore was born in New York City on July 7, 1926. She was the daughter of Leah Ruth Keith. She was seven years old when her mother married writer Borden Chase. Later her mother accused the two of having an affair which was untrue but the two looked at each other in a different light after the false accusation and eventually after Borden divorced Lee Keith the two were married four years later. Patricia often helped Broden in several of his books and scripts including co-writing the screenplay for one Spaghetti western, “Los pistoleros de Casa Grande” (Gunfighters of Casa Grande) with Clarke Reynolds and Borden’s husband Borden Chase.

Spaghetti Western Cinematographer ~ Nenad Jovicic

Nenad Jovicic was a Yugoslav cinematographer known for his pioneering contributions to Yugoslav cinema, including serving as the first formally educated cinematographer in the country and shooting the first color film and the first CinemaScope production in Yugoslavia.

Born on February 19, 1922 in Sarajevo, he entered the film industry in 1950 with the documentary ''Sedam dana na Planici'' and went on to serve as director of photography on 34 feature films, 51 short films, and numerous newsreels.

His notable work includes films such as ''Pop Ćira i pop Spira'', ''Daleko je sunce'', ''Ljubav i moda'', ''Put oko sveta'', and ''Derviš i smrt'', as well as television series like 'Filip na konju' and 'Osma ofanziva'. Jovicic also occasionally worked as a writer and director on short films. His career spanned the height of Yugoslav film production, with key collaborations on early co-productions and technically innovative projects that advanced cinematographic standards in the region.

He died on April 20, 2006, in Ljubljana, Slovenia at the age of 84.

Nenad Jovicic was a cinematographer on one Euro-western, “Zlatna pracka” (The Golden Sling) in 1967.
