Born Matilde Fernández Vilariño in Madrid, Spain on August 13, 1921. Having started in acting through theatre, in the 1940s she joined the cast of actors of Radio Madrid, where she would reap her greatest professional achievements that turned her childlike voice into one of the most popular in Spain over the course of four decades.
Specializing in dubbing children or lending her voice to child characters, perhaps the most outstanding role of her radio career was that of the boy Periquín in the serial ‘Matilde, Perico y Periquín’, which she played for sixteen years (between 1955 and 1971). Later, she participated in the equally famous ‘La Saga de los Porretas’, between the seventies and eighties. She also ventured into the world of theater, such as the performance of “Las de Caín”, by the Álvarez Quintero brothers in 1949.
Outside of radio, he was the voice of the child actor Pablito Calvo in one of the most memorable films in the history of Spanish cinema, “Marcelino pan y vino” (1955), and in all of this actor's other films in which he played a child (“Mi tío Jacinto”, “Un ángel pasó por Brooklyn”, etc.). She also dubbed Miguelito Gil in “Recluta con niño”, Pedro Mari Sánchez in “El dedo del destino”, Jaime Blanch in “Jeromín”, Quique San Francisco in Pedro Lazaga 's film “Fin de Semana”, Mónica Randall in two Euro-westerns, Patsy Kensit in “La calle del adios”, and did redubs for TVE of the voice of Johnny Sheffield in the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan films. She also dubbed the films of the child actor Lolo García: “La guerra de papa” (1977; directed by Antonio Mercero); Based on a book by Miguel Delibes, “Tobi” (1978; directed by Antonio Mercero), “Dos y dos cinco” (1981; directed by Lluís Josep Comerón) and “El pan debajo del brazo” (1984; Mariano Ozores).
For television, another of the famous characters that came to life in Spanish thanks to the actress was Maya the Bee, in the Japanese animated series broadcast by Spanish Television in 1978. She also participated in the dubbing cast of other animated series such as ‘Vickie, the Viking’, ‘Ruy’, the ‘Little Cid’, ‘The Forest of Tallac’ or ‘Knights of the Zodiac’ or the puppets of the program ‘The Magic Mirror’.
