Here’s a scene from 197-0’s “A Man Called Sledge” starring James Garner and Denis Waever. The gang rides into a town preparing to rob the local prison of a fortune in gold. While buying supplies they enter Josh’s Dry Goods but are recognized by Sheriff Ripley played by Wayde Preston. One of the gang Toby (Lorenzo Fineschi) is shot and mortally wounded but loops his holster rig over his saddle horn and rides back into town drawing fire so the rest of the gang can make their escape. As he sits dead in the saddle the gang with the Ripley as a hostage make their escape.
This scene was shot in Mini Hollywood in front of what today is the Yellow Rose Saloon. This location has been used in many Spaghetti westerns and today is a western theme park and zoo.
