Polopos, Spain is a small town and part of the commune of
Lucainena de las Torres, located at the foot of the southern slope of the
Sierra Alhamilla. It’s listed as a set representing Mexican villages in
"Johnny Yuma" (1966); "John the Bastard" (1968); "The
5-Man Army" (1969); "100 Rifles" (1969); "A Man Called
Sledge" (1970) (for this film on a hill in the town was built a set that
represented a great Baroque church in ruins); "Companeros" (1970);
“The Hunting Party” (1971).
About a kilometer below Polopos is Puntal de Polopos, a picturesque complex of rustic house ruins,
which appears in “Johnny Yuma” (1966) (in the rambla at the foot of the village
there is also a farm house); "A Bullet for the General "(1966) (the
village where Lou Castel kills General Elias); "The Avenger" (1966); "God
Forgives ... I Don’t" (1967) (in a scene in which Terence Hill controls
the village from the same spot as Lou Castel was seen); "Professionals for
a Massacre" (1968); "A Train for Durango" (1968); "Blood
and Guns" (1969); "Sonny & Jed" (1972)
