Who Are Those Guys? ~ David Dreyer

 

David Emmett Petitto was born in Harrison, West Virginia on February 14, 1946. He was the younger brother of Spaghetti western star Tony Anthony [1937- ] and writer Antoinette M. Petitto Light [1939-2011].

David graduated from Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg and he along with his brother Roger founded Vadim Ltd. Which refined hair weaving which they called ‘hair weft” which they learned in Harlem, New York and refined the method to suit both Caucasian and Black hair textures.

Under the stage name David Dreyer, he appeared in seven films and TV appearances beginning with “Blindman” in 1971 playing the role of Dude. The film starred his brother Tony Anthony.

David then appeared in the Spaghetti westerns “Get Mean” in 1975 as one of Sombra’s (played by Lloyd Battista) henchmen.

David died in Rancho Santa Margherita, California on November 18, 2014. He was 72.

Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Ketty Carver

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Actress Katie Culver appeared in only one film according to the IMDb and that was also her only Spaghetti western appearance as Jane/Janet in 1964’s “Jim il primo” (The Last Gun) under the name Ketty Carver.

Some sources say her real name was Katie Culver but I can find no biographical information under any of these names.

Voices of the Spaghetti Western “Zorro the Rebel”

As we know most of the Euro-westerns were co-productions from Italy, Spain, Germany and France which incorporated British and American actors to gain a worldwide audience. The films were shot silent and then dubbed into the various languages where they were sold for distribution. That means Italian, Spanish, German, French and English voice actors were hired to dub the films. Even actors from the countries where the film was to be shown were often dubbed by voice actors for various reasons such as the actors were already busy making another film, they wanted to be paid additional salaries for dubbing their voices, the actor’s voice didn’t fit the character they were playing, accidents to the actors and in some cases even death before the film could be dubbed.

I’ll list a Euro-western and the (I) Italian, (S) Spanish, (G) German and (F) French, (E) English voices that I can find and once in a while a bio on a specific voice actor as in Europe these actors are as well-known as the actors they voiced.

Detlef Heintze  (1945 - )

Detlef Heintze was born in Potsdam, Brandeburg, Germany on May 13, 1945. He did an apprenticeship as a chef and trained as an actor in Potsdam-Babelsberg at the University of Film and Television. In 1968 he got a job at the Städtische Bühnen Erfurt. Later he played some major theater roles in Weimar such as “Hamlet”, Ferdinand in Schiller's “Kabale und Liebe”, Marquis Posa in Schiller's “Don Karlos”, “Nathan der Weise” and Karl Moor in Schiller's “Die Räuber”.

He also appeared as an actor in the television series ‘Polizeiruf 110’, ‘Tatort’ and ‘Marienhof. Like his wife Regine Heintze, he can currently be seen as a theatre actor at the German National Theatre in Weimar. Detlef Heintze [1950- ] is also active as a theatre director and as an author of plays under the pseudonym Walter Hesse.

Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Mircha Carven

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Mircha Carven was born in Bucharest, Romania on May 18, 1950. He bears a remarkable resemblance to actor Clark Gable and took advantage of this when he stated in an interview in 1977 that his mother Constanza, a writer, had met Gable on the Côte d'Azur and, concealing his paternity from Gable, gave birth to him in Bucharest in 1951. Sometimes he let himself be listed as John Gable. Between 1974 and 1978 he made some unremarkable commercial films (only the controversial camp “Lager SSadis Kastrat Kommandantur” (SS Experiment Love Camp) enjoys negative fame). He was also seen in a total of 44 photo novels from 1976 onwards.

He appeared iu 13 films and TV appearances 1962-1978 and released a couple of recordings including a single entitled “A Devious Man” which was released for the film “Çikolata Tarlasi” in 1975 and then again in “Candido erotico” (A Man for Sale).

The most recent information I can find on him is he is living in Santa Monica, California.  

Carven appeared in only one Spaghetti western “Talento por amor” (A Talent for Loving) as Benito in 1969.
