Donatas Juozas Banionis was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on April 28, 1924. He graduated from the First Craft School of Kaunas, majoring in ceramist, during his studies he was engaged in a drama club.
In 1940, a professional theatre was established in Kaunas on the basis of the amateur collective that existed at the Chamber of Labour, headed by Juozas Miltinis. After a while, the theater moved from Kaunas to Panevėžys, and about six months later Donatas Banionis was accepted into the troupe.
In 1944, Donatas Banionis graduated from the studio at the Panevėžys Theatre and became a professional actor. He made his film debut in 1959 in the role of Dausa in the film “Adomas nori buti zmogumi” (Adam Wants to Be a Man). Subsequently, he created a number of images that are rightfully listed in the classics of Soviet cinema. The style of the actor's play, his manner is most fully expressed in the words of the Lithuanian director Vytautas Žalakevičius: "Banionis was called an "intellectual" actor ... Banionis also is a master of expressing deep feelings, sculpting the image "inward". He builds the interior of the soul. Builds labyrinths of knowledge... His reincarnations do not require him to undergo any psychological rearrangements. His appearance is inside. His face is inside. It's made up of emotions."
In 1980, after the retirement of Juozas Miltinis, there was a threat to the existence of the Panevėžys Theatre – there was no one to stage performances, the actors did not rehearse... Under these conditions, Donatas Banionis was appointed chief director, taking on, in addition to creative problems, the entire burden of purely economic problems: repertoire, preparation for tours, replenishment of the troupe. He directed the theater until 1988. In the same years he graduated from the State Conservatory of the Lithuanian SSR (1982-1984).
Donatas was married to actress Ona Banionienė [1924-2008] (1948–2008) and was the father of historian Egidijus Banionis [1948-1993] and director Raimundas Banionis [1957- ].
He died from heart problems on September 4, 2014, in a hospital in Panevezys, Lithuania at the age of 90.
Banionis’ only Eurowestern was as Gabriel Conroy in 1977’s “Vooruzhyon i ochen opasen” (Armed and Dangerous: Time and Heroes of Bret Harte)

Produced by Prime Video and Secuoya Studios, the series follows the adventures of the classic hero Zorro.
Prime Video has announced that the new Zorro series, starring Miguel Bernardeau (Elite, 1889) and Renata Notni (El Dragón, La Venganza de las Juanas) will premiere in the first half of 2024 in Portugal, Spain, Latin America, the United States and Andorra.
The production, filmed in the Canary Islands, follows the adventures of the classic hero, Zorro, with a modern and global focus that will conquer new generations. The cast, made up of Spanish and Mexican talent, “brings this legend to life as a symbol of justice and defender of the oppressed.”

We’ll excite our customers with all the action, heroism, and the highest production values you’ve come to expect from Zorro. The Zorro series is a fresh and updated take on the classic character, produced by David Martínez, David Cotarelo, Ángela Agudo, Sergio Pizzolante, Andy Kaplan, Jesús Torres-Viera, John Gertz and Glenda Pacanins.
Zorro will join thousands of TV shows and movies from Prime Video’s catalog, including Iberian series like Operation Maré Negra, or Portuguese sports documentaries like Factory of Dreams: Benfica, as well as international hits like AIR, O Senhor dos Anéis: The Rings of Power, Citadel, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Creed III, Samaritan, Thirteen Lives, Being the Ricardos, Tomorrow War, Reacher, Coming 2 America, The Boys, and thousands of hours of licensed content.
The series will be broadcast in the United States on Amazon Prime Video and will be distributed internationally by the Mediawan Rights group. The events of this reboot will take place in 1830 in Los Angeles and will trace the origin story of the Californian hero, Don Diego de la Vega, his real name. He will be determined to find the person who killed his father and will discover family secrets that will change his destiny forever.

Giorgio Bandiera was born on December 17, 1926, in Syracuse, Sicily, Italy. He appeared in ten films and TV series from 1962 until 1977. He was also a voice dubber, voice actor and narrator on at least a dozen others.
As far as I can tell he’s still living as I can find no information that he has passed away. Today he’d be 97 years old.
Giorgio’s only Spaghetti western appearance was in an uncredited role in 1966’s “The Cold Kiler” starring Dan Harrison (Bruno Piergentilli).

Somewhere in the West, the small town of Langtry lives in the legend of the glorious Roy Bean, who once, a long time ago, saved the village from the fury of the Comanche Indians. The years go by. The Comanches are still as cruel, the adventurers as unnatural, but with a load of honors Roy Bean has aged. He became a judge in Langtry, a rather unusual judge who operates the town's only saloon under the same roof as his court. The good ones from Langtry: of course, Victoria, lady patroness of her estate and in principle almost the entire group of lovely teenage girls whom she chaperones and guides on the sacred paths of salvation. The bad ones: Black Bird in the lead, the great, the dark, the redoubtable dreaded Black Bird followed by his brigands. The “picaros” otherwise catalog of “thirstless driftwood” and “lazy barflies”; old Picadilly dreaming of ending his life in a comfortable London house; the seductive and cowardly young Antonio; the skinny and gigantic Slim, a soldier by vocation.
But did not God say: “It is not good for man to be alone.” But among all these people, there is Cat. Should she be classified among the good ones? Should she be classified as bad? She is what her era has made of her, with all the implications that the place where she lives can bring. In a word, Cat is a radiant woman, luscious, voluptuous, witty, flirtatious, intelligent, and depending on the day…virtuous. But what can a weak woman, even the niece of “the Magnificent” Roy Bean, do in a society dedicated to vice and violence? No doubt exactly what Cat said, certainly tired of wearing blue jeans even if they were made from zebra skin! Appropriate, in the very feminine hope of dressing in more vaporous finery, the two boxes stuffed with gold dollars is stolen from the naive of this dazzling western, the delicate, the famous Buck Carson.
And it is from this theft that madness will seize Langtry, that we will see the unfortunate Buck Carson, first condemned to a fine for not having taken off his hat in front of a lady, finally dragged into the coldest and most sinister of prisons. It is from this flight that Cat will become more and more enigmatic for the people of Langtry and in love with the imitable Black Bird. It is from this theft that Black Bird's gleaming and golden super saloon will be built opposite Roy Bean's humble saloon. It is from this theft that the thief will be robbed, that radiant with feminine delicacy, Cat will think of taking revenge on one by the other and reversibly, without ever sinking into sugary abandonment (I love this sugar...) of love. It is also from this flight that terror will reign through Black Bird interposing on the little people of Judge Roy Bean. It is from this theft, again, and finally that the village will seem to rest on a powder magazine, that the judge will judge himself and that Victoria, the Quaker, will judge herself about this same judge without whom things are no longer what they were. But Roy knows well that it has been written that “ungratefulness is the nectar of heroes.” The dollars are searched for in vain in the cemetery are found by a miracle, in the closets of the courts, magistrates will take the marquis, not to live there as bandits of honor, but as repentant sybarites.
Leaving the wicked, the cruel, the ungrateful, the lovers will take to the road, because, deep inside, Cat is not a lost girl. The seed of the little blue flower was still waiting in her heart for the spring of germination. And what brighter sun than that diffused by Buck Carson could better make it blossom.

Never in all the fabulous history of the West have we known adventures as extraordinary as those of the small town of Langtry and its judge Roy Bean, the legendary and glorious savior, free drinker and inveterate gambler.

As we know most of the Euro-westerns were co-productions from Italy, Spain, Germany and France which incorporated British and American actors to gain a worldwide audience. The films were shot silent and then dubbed into the various languages where they were sold for distribution. That means Italian, Spanish, German, French and English voice actors were hired to dub the films. Even actors from the countries where the film was to be shown were often dubbed by voice actors for various reasons such as the actors were already busy making another film, they wanted to be paid additional salaries for dubbing their voices, the actor’s voice didn’t fit the character they were playing, accidents to the actors and in some cases even death before the film could be dubbed.
